  • The Life of Dominic LuVisi: A Journey of Resilience, Creativity, and Advocacy

Early Life and Family Dominic LuVisi was born on July 2, 1999 , in Reno, Nevada , as the youngest of four siblings. His childhood was shaped by his relationships with his two older sisters, Melissa and Veronica, and his older brother, Damon . Growing up in a lively household, Dominic was a naturally creative and curious child. He was always drawn to storytelling, whether through acting, movies, or making up his own imaginative tales. However, his life took a drastic turn after a car accident  during a family road trip. The accident resulted in him becoming Deaf , forever altering the way he experienced the world. While this was an immense challenge, it also became a defining moment in his life. Instead of letting it hold him back, he fully embraced Deaf culture  and American Sign Language (ASL) , finding strength in his new identity. A Passion for Acting and Filmmaking Dominic had always been fascinated by movies, but after becoming Deaf, he noticed something that troubled him—there was very little authentic Deaf representation  in the entertainment industry. Most Deaf characters were played by hearing actors, and stories about Deaf people were often told from an outsider’s perspective. This realization fueled his desire to change the narrative . He didn’t just want to act—he wanted to create . He envisioned a world where Deaf actors, filmmakers, and creators could tell their own stories in their own language, ASL . Determined to turn his passion into reality, Dominic founded LuVisideMedia in 2017 , a media brand dedicated to producing content that highlighted Deaf stories, perspectives, and culture. As his vision expanded, so did his brand. In 2023, he rebranded to LuVisiMedia , making it the home for his creative projects, including film productions, ASL storytelling, and digital content creation . Building a Deaf Community on YouTube Understanding the power of social media, Dominic turned to YouTube  as a way to reach a larger audience. He didn’t just want to create films—he wanted to build a Deaf community online  where people could connect, learn, and share experiences. He launched multiple YouTube channels and projects, each serving a unique purpose: Deaf Channels Films in ASL  – A space for ASL-based short films, visual storytelling, and cinematic content. Our1stDeafLife & Deaf2ndLife  – Documenting different aspects of Deaf culture, daily experiences, and personal stories. Deaf YouTubers & Deaf Creators YouTuber Groups  – A collaborative effort to bring together Deaf content creators, helping them grow their platforms and share their voices with the world. Through these channels, Dominic not only entertained but also educated  people about Deaf culture, accessibility, and the importance of authentic representation in media . Advocacy: Raising Awareness About Deaf Schizophrenia In 2024 , Dominic took on another important mission— raising awareness about Deaf Schizophrenia . Mental health in the Deaf community is often overlooked, and resources are limited  for those who need them. Understanding the challenges that many Deaf individuals face when it comes to accessing mental health support, he decided to take action. By founding the Deaf Schizophrenia  initiative, Dominic aimed to break the stigma  surrounding mental health, provide support and education , and advocate for better resources . His work in this area became an extension of his larger goal—to amplify Deaf voices and fight for equal opportunities  in all areas of life. Overcoming Challenges and Pushing Forward Dominic’s journey hasn’t been without struggles. As a Deaf creator in a predominantly hearing industry, he has faced barriers, misunderstandings, and lack of accessibility . However, he has never let these challenges stop him. Instead, he has used them as motivation to push forward, create opportunities, and inspire others  who face similar obstacles. Whether through filmmaking, online content, or advocacy, Dominic continues to prove that Deaf individuals are just as capable of success in any field they choose . A Motto to Live By Throughout his journey, Dominic has embraced a personal philosophy that reflects his resilience and passion: “Be Savage, Be Lit, and Love Yourself.” To him, this isn’t just a catchy phrase—it’s a reminder to be fearless , embrace his individuality , and always stay true to himself . The Future of LuVisiMedia and Beyond As Dominic looks ahead, his goals remain ambitious. He dreams of expanding LuVisiMedia  into a full-fledged production company that creates feature films, television series, and digital content  that authentically represents the Deaf community. He also hopes to continue mentoring and supporting Deaf creators , ensuring that future generations have more opportunities than ever before. His story is one of perseverance, passion, and purpose —and this is just the beginning.

  • Why Did I Decide to Become a Creative Director and Vlogger?

I have always dreamed of being a creative director and social media influencer, especially in filmmaking and developing ideas for different movies. I decided to pursue my dream of becoming a creative director in October 2012. However, I stopped in August 2015 because I struggled to find enough team members for my old YouTube channel, called “Deaf Channels Films in ASL.” Unfortunately, someone later removed my channel, which included many of the short and long films I had created, some as long as 30 minutes. First created in a movie called "XS-MAN DEAF MOVIE." I have created titles such as “XS-D-MAN DEAF MOVIE,” “V.P Scary Scream & V.P Funny Story Deaf Movies,” “No Joke VP,” “Dr. Pepper & M&M,” “One Missed FaceTime,” and “Funny Joke.” These were just the beginning of my journey as a creative director. I am thankful for those moments when I first started pursuing my dream. What is a Creative Director? A film director or creative director is a person who oversees the artistic and dramatic aspects of a film. Generally, a film director manages a film's overall vision, including directing the script, guiding the technical crew and actors, and ensuring that the creative direction aligns with the intended story and message. The director plays a crucial role in directing the cast, production, and overall creative aspects of filmmaking. As a creative director, you can bring your ideas to life on a stage or through a vlog by sharing stories or creating funny, engaging videos. Just be yourself as an artist and share your creativity. People are often curious about the ideas in your mind and what you aspire to achieve as a person. It’s especially important to inspire children or adults by setting a positive example on social media as a good influencer. Despite that setback, I found a new path. I became a vlogger on February 10, 2014, and I’m proud to say that I’ve been vlogging for nearly 11 years now—by next month, it will officially be 11 years! My first video received a lot of views, and people enjoyed my ASL storytelling. Through my journey, I’ve worked hard to improve and express myself in many ways on social media. For anyone starting their creative journey, I encourage you to begin with your own stories or brainstorm your ideas. You might discover what inspires you most and who you want to become—whether it’s an artist, a creative director, or something else entirely. the Original First Vlogger on Feb. 10. 2014. Imagine if you were in my shoes. At just 14 years old, I started my own YouTube channel, creating my first vlogs. They weren’t perfect, and I made a lot of mistakes along the way, but I kept going. From starting small to gradually improving, I eventually reached a point of success. Eight years later, one of my videos hit 100,000 views. Also, I made it to 1,000 subscribers—a milestone I’m very proud of. Take your time and have patience—your hard work will pay off, whether in the future or even sooner than you expect.
